JESC 2017 | Spain will not be present in Georgia
Along with Iceland and Estiona that have recently delcared they will not be participating at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Spain too have added their names to that list.

Spain who last competed in 2006 had a great set of results in the four years that they participated. We cannot believe that it has been eleven years since the country last competed at the contest. Javier Pons who was the former channel director of TVE stated in previous years Spain withdrew because it "promotes stereotypes the TVE do not share".
In 2003 Spain achieved second place. 2004 they won the competition with Maria Isabel's song "Antes Muerta Que Sencilla" which coincidentally gave them their best viewing figures ever of 6 million. 2005 Spain came second again, and in 2006 they also achieved a respectable 4th place. However, they have not come back despite registering the band "EuroJunior" to be present at the 15th edition, which failed to materialise.
Although a new head of Spanish delegation Ana Maria Bordas had been appointed that hinted 2017 could be the year they could come back. It has failed to materialise as they officially declined to participate in Tiblisi on the 26th November 2017.
Maybe next year. Stay tuned for further information.
