Will San Marino Withdraw from the Eurovision?

Last night the second Semi final of the Eurovision 2017 took place. San Marino were present at this, and it was hoped that they would qulaify for the final. Unfortunately, they lost out again, and will not be seen at the Final to be aired this Saturday. This was the third consecutive time that San Marino had failed to progress to the live Grand Final. The song sung by the Queen of Eurovision and San Marino Valentina Monetta along with Jimmy Wilson was an uptempo track that was different to the sea of ballads this year. The viewing public, and juries saw differently though, and did not see fit to put them through.
You may ask yourself why we have speculated at this. However, this article comes from a press release that was issued immediately after Semi Final 2. The Director General of San Marino RTV gave Eurovoxx, bloggers and other news agencies a statement that read,
"We are very happy for and proud of Valentina and Jimmie, but I think we are too small for this event. I am not sure that next year we will consider participating. It is very difficult now to think of taking part again. There is no place for micro-states in the Eurovision Song Contest".
Carlo Romeo, Director General, San Marino RTV, May 11th 2017, 11:38 CET
We are really hoping that this is not the case, and that they will come back next year. They have been welcomed, and certainly are a massive part of the Eurovision family. San Marino are one of the newer members to the contest, first competing in 2008. They have not been that successful and only made it through to one final 2014, where they achieved their best placing of 24th. Their worst came in the debut year of 2008 where they came last in their semi final.
