Norway | Melodi Grand Prix Results Revealed

Saturday, saw a further four countries decide their entries for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. One of these were Norway, who opted to use their traditional Melodi Grand Prix to find their artist. The broadcaster NRK has since revealed the voting figures for Saturday nights final from Oslo.

It turns out that bookies, and fan favourites before the contest KEiiNO had won the competition with a massive margin of 70,000 votes over their second place rival Adrian. Not all the votes have been shown, however the top four super finalists votes have been issued. They were as follows:

  1. KEiiNO – “Spirit in the Sky” – 98,324 votes

  2. Adrian Jørgensen – “The Bubble” – 55,794 votes

  3. D’Sound – “Mr. Unicorn” – 11,123 votes

  4. Anna-Lisa Kumoji – “Holla” – 6,718

The votes came from a combined jury, public SMS, and online vote that saw only two acts fight it out for a place to represent Norway in Tel Aviv. The top two performers, KEiino and Adrian Jørgensen then went head to head again in the "gold final". The lines re-opened and below are the results of that final round.

  1. KEiiNO – “Spirit in the Sky” – 231,937 votes

  2. Adrian Jørgensen – “The Bubble” – 162,608 votes

KEiiNO were widely expected to win the Melodi Grand Prix on Saturday. However it is the scale of the vote that is impressive. Already, there is quite a buzz surrounding the song, and they could certainly be contenders to take the Eurovision crown in May.

The deadline for the official song submissions are approaching really soon. Have you got your favourite yet?
