Ukraine | Vidbir 2019 - Who qualified for the final in Semi Final One?

Tonight we saw the launch of Ukraine's search for their Eurovision Song Contest 2019 participant with the first semi final of national selection competition 'Vidbir'. The first eight acts performed their prospective Eurovision entries on stage for the first time with the top three following a jury & televote advancing to the final which will be taking place on Saturday 23rd February 2019.

In a pretty cool change to the norm, YouTube stream viewers also had the option to choose the camera they wanted to watch the performances from! The eight competing artists and their songs are:

  • The Hypnotunez - "Hey!"

  • Letay - "Myla moya"

  • Vera Kekelia - "Wow!"

  • Tsesho - "Hate"

  • Yuko - "Galyna guliala"

  • Maruv - "Siren Song"

  • Brunettes Shoot Blondes - "Houston"

  • Bahroma - "Nazavzhdy-Navsegda"

After all acts performed, the results were decided by a 50/50 split on jury votes and televoting. With both the jury and televote favourite picking up 8 points, second favourite 7 points and so on until their least favourite getting 1 points. The three with the highest combined scores (maximum of 16 possible) qualify for the final. The three-member jury consists of Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala, comedian & Eurovision 2007 participant (under Verka Serduchka) Andriy Danylko and singer/producer Yevhen Filatov.

When the points were added to the scoreboard, the results were:

1st - MARUV - "Siren Song" - 14 points

2nd - Brunettes Shoot Blondes - "Houston" - 14 points

3rd - YUKO - "Galyna guliala" - 13 points

4th - Tsesho - "Hate" - 11 points

5th - Bahroma - "Nazavzhdy-Navsegda" - 7 points

6th - Vera Kekelia - "Wow!" - 6 points

7th - LETAY - "Myla moya" - 5 points

8th - The Hypnotunez - "Hey!" - 2 points

With these results we have the first three finalists confirmed - MARUV, Brunettes Shoot Blondes and YUKO.
