Croatia | As Dora returns in 2019, let's look back on the Top 10 Dora songs!

Last week, Croatian national broadcaster (HRT) confirmed on its social media that they are preparing the return of national selection – Dora 2019.

Dora is the format of the national selection that has been going on since 1995 until 2011. (in 1993. and 1994. there were also national selections but the name Dora was invented in 1995.). It brought many successful Eurovision entries, but also many songs that hit the charts in Croatia.

We are very happy with the news that Dora is back and that will consist of not one, not two, but three gala shows that will be taking place in the town of Opatija in February.

According to Croatian newspaper Jutarnji list, the first night will feature acclaimed artists performing chansons and Opatija serenades. On the second night, we will trip down the memory lane to listen to the most successful songs from the Dora festival, performed by HRT's Symphony Orchestra. The third, final night will feature entries competing to represent Croatia in the Eurovision song contest 2019 in Tel Aviv.

It is speculated that both the jury and the television audience will have their say in choosing Croatian Eurovision act.

As we are delighted to hear the news about Dora return, we bring you the Top 10 Dora entries:

10. Ivan Mikulić: You Are The Only One (2004), 12th place

9. Severina: Moja štikla (2006), 12th place

8. Vesna Pisarović: Everything I Want (2002), 11th place

7. Boris Novković: Vukovi umiru sami (2005), 11th place

6. Vanna: Strings of My Heart (2001), 10th place

5. Goran Karan: Kad zaspu anđeli (2000), 9th place

4. Magazin i Lidija: Nostalgija (1995), 6th place

3. Danijela Martinović: Neka mi ne svane (1998), 5th place

2. Maja Blagdan: Sveta ljubav (1996), 4th place

1. Doris Dragović: Marija Magdalena (1999), 4th place

Last year there were also speculations about the return of Dora, but it didn't happen. Instead, HRT chose Franka Batelić as an artist to represent Croatia in Lisbon with the song she co-wrote with composer Branimir Mihaljević.

The official video of her song Crazy was presented on a daily news show on HRT. Unfortunately, Franka failed to qualify for the final, placing 17th out of 19 songs in the first semi-final.
