Serbia | Beovizija national selection back for 2018!

Exciting news, as Serbian broadcaster RTS has confirmed the return of Beovizija - the country's National Selection previously used between 2007 and 2009.

The news was confirmed in newspaper Blic, and the prospect of a Serbian entry selected by the public following recent internal selections, certainly has pleased many Eurovision fans.

Beovizija 2018 is scheduled to take place in February 2018, and will comprise of 10 shortlisted songs, with a winner selected by a mix of public and jury. The submission period is still currently open, with a deadline of 20 October, so those of you who are still looking to submit a potential Eurovision winner still have time - although be quick!

Last month, we spoke to 2017 entrant Tijana Bogicevic who revealed she would love to return to Eurovision again, but only if it was with a song selected by the Serbian public. Could we see Tijana returning again? Watch our interview here...

Serbia has been a member of the Eurovision family in its own right since 2007, having previously participated as part of the former Yugoslavia, and then in 2004 and 2005 as Serbia & Montenegro. They have had success, winning the contest on their debut in 2007 with Molitva by Marija Serifovic. In recent years however, they have fared less well, including this year when Tijana Bogicevic failed to qualify for the final with her song In Too Deep.

So what do you think? Are you happy to see the return of a national selection for Serbia? Should they stick with internal selections? Let us know!!
