JESC 2017 | 16 countries to grace the stage in Georgia!
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) today announced that a total of 16 countries will be taking part in this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi, Georgia. Portugal will be making a surprise return to the contest after a 10-year absence. Portugal first took part in Junior Eurovision 2006, finishing in 14th place out of 15 countries, managing only 10 points. In 2007, they finished 16th out of 17 countries with only 3 points. JESC 2017 | Ukraine to host National Final on August 25th
Ukrainian Broadcaster NTU have revealed the 10 finalists that will take part in the national final on August 25th. A total of 27 acts performed in Ukraine's capital, Kiev, in front of a professional jury who then selected 10 finalists to take part in the national final. JESC 2017 | Poland confirms participation and date for National Final.
After confirming their participation in Junior Eurovision 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Poland have now confirmed that they will select their participant for Junior Eurovision via a televised national final on October 1st. All candidates wishing to take part have until September 11th to submit their songs. All candidates must be between 9-14 and their songs must be original and cannot have been previously released. JESC 2017 | Australia confirms participation
Australia has confirmed that they will be taking part in Junior Eurovision 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia. This will be the third appearance of Australia in Junior Eurovision. In contrast to previous years, Australia will broadcast the contest on ABC ME, instead of SBS. This decision was made as ABC ME is more targeted at children and families. Earlier today, Armenian Broadcaster ARMTV announced that Misha, (full name Michael Grigoryan), aged 9, will represent them at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi, Georgia. Zena Donnelly represented Ireland at Junior Eurovision 2016 in Valletta, Malta with her song Bríce Ar Bhríce (Brick By Brick), finishing in 10th place with 122 points. JESC2017 | Will it be Ana Kodra for Albania?
The 53rd edition of Festivali i Këngës për Fëmijë took place earlier this week in the Albanian city of Shkodër. The winner was Ana Kodra singing the song "Mos Ma Prekni Pemën" Although Albania has not yet confirmed their participation for Junior Eurovision 2017, (they are due to confirm in June 2017), it is very likely that Ana Kodra will fly the flag for Albania in Georgia in November. JESC2017 | BELARUS AND RUSSIA ARE GETTING READY!!
The national broadcaster of Belarus, BTRC, have begun their selection process for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017. All candidates who would like to take part have until 30th June to submit their song to the Belarussian broadcaster.
