Portuguese broadcaster RTP have today announced that 13-year old Rita Laranjeira will represent Portugal at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The announcement was made on the television programme Agora Nós by host Carla Bugalho. Out of a total of 10 participants, Rita was chosen as Portugal's representative by a jury. The draw to determine who will open and close the show, and in which position host country Georgia will sing took place earlier today at the opening ceremony in Tbilisi. Unlike previous years, there was no draw to determine which countries would sing in the first half, and which countries would sing in the second half.
